Series 1 (Choreography + Film)
Not only was I being observed by the camera, but in this improvisation I was also observing something within myself. I was allowing my eyes to follow internal parts of my body. Once the eyes look in, the vision slowly dissolves, and I am moving through the blur.
What was I observing?
The Series are a way for me to continuously reconsider my relationship with dance, and use personal experiences to reignite my intimate desire to move. Through framed improvisations, I keep asking myself what interests me about my body in the space, and the music, and being on the floor, and feeling overwhelmingly energised, and encountering boredom and judgement, as well as a strong recognition of movement as a home. In this first Series, I was reencountering dance after a short break, and went to the studio to get rid of, or swim in a thick layer of sensitivity in my skin.
