What I Mean by Research
What is it I am researching? Can one ever know what is it one is looking for, or is looking only a movement of the instincts? To me, it feels like both a desire to know and a desire to follow without knowing. When is it a good time to ask myself this question and when do I just get to be in the actual practice of following my own attention, of making connections and look at the overall as research? When is research a present act, and when is it the act of looking back at the marks you have created on paper, on film, on a dance studio, as you followed your interest? Why are things interesting and appealing to you? Undertaking a research is about making sense of our interests. Finding in the world, or creating for the world, the connections between instinctual patterns in our bodies. What has been found inside, now has to take form outside. Research as communication between the two.
as I research, I create a dance in between my desires.
