Feel Good Fridays, Global Generation (Facilitation)
Starting in 2022, Feel Good Fridays hosts fortnightly sessions at the Story Garden and the Floating Garden to support the wellbeing of local senior residents through guided relaxation, hands-on activities, and a shared meal. In this programme, I lead a regular dance and movement practice that encourages participants to deepen the relation to their bodies, while nurturing healthy and meaningful connections with others. Through improvisation and gentle moving, the aim is to increase physical awareness, prioritise the senses, and explore different ways of engaging with the spaces we inhabit.
The gentle rhythm and structure of the sessions have deeply influenced my practice as a dance artist, encouraging me to foster creativity within radical care, softness and at a slow pace. Over the past two years, the regular group of women who participate in the program have taught me valuable lessons about kindly allowing the body to rest, relax, and connect with others and the environment. It has also deepened my understanding of dance practice, moving beyond the strict approaches of profesional dancing, and incorporating the multiple ways in which the experience of movement evolves across different stages in life.
Facilitated in collaboration with Laura Price, as part of Global Generation educational programmes.
